Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Should I take group classes, or private lessons? A: Both! Private lessons are your "bread and butter" of dancing, so to speak. These will get you started off on the right foot, and keep you progressing steadily at your desired pace. Private lessons are the fastest way to learn to dance, as you get individual attention and immediate answers to all of your questions. However, group classes are a fun way to focus in on a particular step or two in a specific dance each week, and attending these classes will improve your retention of the material, as well as give you a social outlet where you can meet fellow dancers. We recommend you try both, to get the most out of your dancing.
Q: Do I need to have a partner? A: No. A partner is unnecessary for our private lessons, group classes, or any of our studio events. If you are taking private lessons without a partner, your instructor will dance with you as your partner. In fact, you will learn even faster this way! In our group classes, you will dance with various partners throughout the class, and at our parties, there are always plenty of people who are ready and willing to dance with you!
Q: What age range are your students? A: We have students ranging in age from 3 to 83! We focus on private lessons with our adult students, but we also offer children's group classes, so if you have children, feel free to enroll them in one of our group classes while you are taking your lesson. They will have a great time, and you will enjoy some adult time for yourself!
Q: Do I need previous dance experience to start taking lessons? A: No! 90% of our students have never set foot on a dance floor until they walk into our studio. We actually like it that way, as there are fewer bad habits for us to correct! If you have never had lessons before, we will start you off with some basic dance elements, and will have you moving around the floor in no time!
Q: Do I need special dance attire? A:We realize it can be a little intimidating to try a new activity such as getting out on the dance floor for the first time, and we want you to feel as comfortable as possible in our studio, so please wear whatever you feel comfortable in! We have students who come from work in their business attire, college students in shorts and t-shirts, and folks who like to dress up a bit for their time on the dance floor, so you will see a variety of clothing styles here. You will want to be a bit more specific with your footwear, however. Try to avoid sneakers or hiking-type boots that may stick to the floor while turning. Normally a dress shoe with a non-rubber sole will work fine for starting out, and ladies often prefer a bit of a heel. Once you have had a few lessons, we strongly encourage our students to get a good pair of dance shoes. This will make a huge difference, both in the comfort and performance of your feet on the dance floor.
Q: What kinds of dances do you teach? A:Our primary focus is on the various styles of ballroom dancing. This includes the many forms of Latin and Swing dancing as well. Basically we offer lessons in any dance that requires a partner (though of course, you aren't required to have a partner to take lessons; see above). Pretty much anything you would do at a wedding, on a cruise, or in a dance club, we can teach you how to do! For a current schedule of ballroom and non-ballroom group classes, please call our studio at (614) 759-0502.
Q: How much do your dance lessons cost? A: This will largely depend on your goals, and what you are looking for. Costs can run anywhere from around $350 to $950 for beginner private packages, or from $20 up to $110 per session (group vs private), depending on how you go about taking your lessons. The best way to get started is to take advantage of one of our introductory specials. When you come in for your first introductory lesson, your instructor will ask you quite a few questions to get to know you a little bit and get a feel for your needs and desires, and then will recommend something specifically to suit you. This is the best way for us to get a feel for your personal goals and interests, so that we can give you exactly what you are looking for. To find out about our current introductory specials, just call us anytime at (614) 759-0502.
Q: Do you offer events where I can come and dance for fun, besides taking lessons? A: Using your dancing on a regular basis is the best way to progress and build your confidence on the dance floor, as well as to get the most fun out of your dancing! We try to offer as many events as possible, as the more you dance, the happier you will be with the results. We offer many dance events like Showcases or Dance Competitions. Check our Facebook Page for upcoming events, so you can see what we have going on each month.
Q: What are your hours of operation? A: We can take lessons by appointment 7 days a week anytime from 9:00 am until 9:00 pm. We will do our best to accommodate your schedule, so call us anytime to schedule your first lesson at your convenience! (614) 759-0502.
